Field Technician - DC, VA, MD area

The Field Technician is responsible for installing and repairing EAS, intrusion/fire alarms and CCTV systems, training customers on the use of systems, and completing on-site surveys for customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides installation and service labor as required on intrusion/fire alarms, EAS and CCTV systems.
  • Trains customers on the use of systems. Interfaces with customers to resolve installation and service issues.  Also attends customer construction meetings.
  • Reviews and implements quality control processes within the area to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Works with internal installation regions to supervise the installation of projects in area.
  • Assists Area Manager in identifying, hiring, training and developing field employees and other resources in area.
  • Performs site surveys and provides surveys and cost estimates to sales as needed.
  • Works with other field resources and internal departments to meet established goals and objectives, maximize efficiencies and effectiveness while maintaining profitability throughout the installation and service processes.
  • Maintains accurate parts inventory and safeguards company assets.
  • Maintains daily requirements for paperwork and communication.

 Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • 2 year Associates degree or BSET in electronics, equivalent military training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years related industry experience.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes and digital meters.
  • Hands-on experience with intrusion/fire alarms, EAS and CCTV systems.
  • Valid driver’s license in current state of residence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state and local low-voltage licenses. Knowledge of state and national codes.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, e-mail).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to produce quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to customers.
  • Strong problem solving and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift at least 55 lbs and 25 lbs over head.
  • Ability to work on lifts, ladders and new and existing construction sites.
  • Ability to travel for service or installation projects (25-50%).
